To be honest, most of those setups are based on the "inevitable" that you want to run a passive Drake. But, you should also see that there were other setups that I posted as well - or maybe you didn't read far enough down.
Here's some ideas:
Full Passive tank Passive tank with active hardeners Full Active tank Speed/EW tank Full gank Half tank/Half gank EW + Sig Distortion Armor + EW tank
Full Passive Tank - Yup, that works
Passive Tank with active hardeners - Works as well
Full Active Tank - Ah, but see, there goes another of your midslots for a cap injector. And see the Drake's cargohold? Yeah, that's not that impressive, is it? It is, infact, the smallest cargohold of the Tier2 BCs, smaller than the one of the Harbinger which doesn't need to carry ammo. And when using missiles you certainly want FoFs "IMMUNE TO ECM OMFG!!!1" and a few precisions "MY CEPTOR LEIK GOT PWNED IN 1 HIT!!!2" in there, and of course all of different damage types since the Drake "CAN CHOOSE ITS DMGTYPE OMG!!!3" and after that... yeah, not much left for charges. Oh, and of course any midslot you sacrifice for tackling will only further weaken your tank.
Speed/EW tank - Wait, you are suggesting a speed tank for the Drake? The HURRICANE has trouble maintaining one, and of all BCs that one is built for it! And except for damps EWar is pretty useless on a Drake, and if you fit damps, you might as well take a Celestis instead. Does the job much better.
Full Gank - Even in full gank mode (aka HAMs, 4xBCUIIs & MWD) you're left with pathetic damage and the maneuverability of a brick on ice. Caldari ships cannot go all-out gank and be competetive. It just... doesn't work. Too low base damage, too low speed.
Half Tank / Half Gank - Works for missions & works in gangs. However for gangs ANY other race's ship would be more useful. Thorax/Ruppie e.g. as heavy hitters & for the additional point & for increased agility -> gang movement speed.
EW + Sig Distortion - Full EW? Go grab a Blackbird. Cheaper, more effective, faster & more agile.
Armor + EW tank - Even if you want to ignore one ship bonus totally, check the Drake's lowslots. Yup, 4. Leaving you with a Thorax'esque tank. While doing lower damage and having EWar (yay) which as said before, the Celestis does much better. Or if you insist on using Caldari, the Blackbird.

The level of whinage in this thread is beyond sickening - especially when there is no cause for the amount of whinage. The Drake may be underpowered, and its passive tank is being nerfed a tiny bit, but there's no reason for every Caldari player here to say the Drake is useless now, or when this nerf hits.
Because it isn't true. The Drake has 6 mids. Mids = Versatility. The Drake is versatile. Just because you can't fit Tank, Gank, and Ewar all at the same time doesn't mean that it is not. *snipped*
Yes, you are correct, it allows for quite some flexibility. The problems with the Drake is that it is INFERIOR in pretty much any role unless you fit it all out for passive tanking. I'm also for nerfing its tank and instead upping its gankage, but these half arsed nerfs which only further push the Drake into the mission-***** /ratter role are just not cutting it.
Oh and yeah, I trained Gallente & Minmatar for PvP. Not touching a Caldari ship 'cept my missionrunner Raven & my happyfuntime-Harpy anytime soon. Galls & Minnies > Caldari in PvP by several orders of magnitude, and I still have lousy armor tanking and gunnery skills.
